BIOGRAPHY

XUAN WEI

About the Artist

She is interested in the changes of nature. Regards her paintings, the human, the animals and the plants are part of the natural circulation. From her works, the concept of nature circulation runs through her works indicating the circle of nature which are in a process of birth, aspiration, decline and extinction. As if a creature can be turned into the earth after death, the plant grows out of the earth ground as well and the resource of nature is used by human. She wants to show all about the positive side of life and the hopeful side.

In Xuan's Art, it breaks the boundary of space and time, combines images from different objects, express the close relationship between human life and nature through color and graphic. Random shape is formed by points, lines and areas with emotional colors. Painting is a way of record for her. She began to work freely in colorful sketchbooks which became her creative themes and were transferred onto the canvas.

It's been directed to the future of art road with a love of the color and graphic of her since she was child. Her delicate color and unique imagery combine to create a world that is close to reality and full of dreams. She feels that the power of color is infinite based on the color makes inner peace of human.

Xuan Wei began painting at the age of 10 and realised very early on that art - in one form or another - would accompany her for the rest of her life. That was 28 years ago now. Her move to Germany has had a huge impact on her over the last 10 years. Not only Germany gave her a lot of new creative inspiration, but also many other places she has visited in Europe over the years. The people, the nature, the life is completely diEerent from Asia. Her art also changed. Whereas in the past she endeavoured to reproduce nature as accurately and faithfully as possible, today she concentrates on a natural, simple, almost childlike form of expression. Just as our ancestors painted pictures on the walls of caves to record their lives, in her art she follows an original, primal path that always leads us back to nature. She wants to express a new world in which the limitations of space and time are cancelled. We are in a cycle - what seems to have come to an end also brings forth something new. The combination of soft yet powerful colours and the changes in the forms of nature carry a unique strength that awakens diEerent associations in each viewer and touches the emotions in very diEerent ways.
